Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 May 2026
These terms govern your use of the RecipeParse API and website. Please read them carefully. By using RecipeParse you agree to be bound by them.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the RecipeParse API or website, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are using RecipeParse on behalf of a company or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the service. We may update these Terms from time to time — we will notify you by email for material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. The Service
RecipeParse provides a REST API that parses raw recipe ingredient text into structured JSON, annotates method steps with ingredient references, and optionally matches ingredients to branded product catalogues (“the Service”).
The Service is provided on a subscription basis with usage-based credit limits tied to your chosen plan. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.
3. Accounts and API Keys
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys. Each API key grants full access to your account's quota — treat them like passwords.
- Do not embed API keys in client-side code, public repositories, or mobile apps
- Rotate keys immediately if you suspect they have been compromised
- You are liable for all usage that occurs under your API keys, including unauthorised use resulting from your failure to keep keys secure
We may suspend or revoke API keys that are found to be causing abuse, security risks, or violations of these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You may use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or credit metering
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the API without our written consent
- Submit content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
- Use the Service to generate, scrape, or distribute spam
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or attack our infrastructure
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension of your account without refund.
5. Credits, Plans, and Billing
Plans and credits
Each plan includes a fixed number of parse credits per calendar month. Credits reset on the first day of each month and do not roll over. The credit cost of each request type is shown in our documentation.
| Plan | Parse credits / month | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 5 | $0 |
| Starter | 50 | $29 / month |
| Pro | 500 | $99 / month |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
Billing
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. Payments are processed by Stripe. By providing payment details you authorise us to charge your card on each renewal date.
Overages
Once you exhaust your monthly credits, API calls will return a 429 Credit Limit Exceeded error until your plan renews. Metered overages at $0.04 per parse are available on Starter and above — contact us to enable them.
Refunds
We offer a 14-day free trial on Starter and Pro plans. After the trial, subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer law. If we terminate your account without cause, we will provide a pro-rata refund for unused subscription days.
Price changes
We will give at least 30 days notice of any price increase, effective on your next renewal date.
6. Your Content
You retain all intellectual property rights in the recipe text, ingredient strings, and other content you submit to the Service (“Your Content”).
By submitting content, you grant RecipeParse a limited, non-exclusive licence to process Your Content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use your content to train AI models or share it with third parties beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to submit any content you provide.
7. Intellectual Property
RecipeParse, its logo, and all associated software, documentation, and API designs are the intellectual property of RecipeParse and are protected by copyright, trade mark, and other applicable laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms and your plan. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any RecipeParse intellectual property to you.
8. Uptime and SLA
We target 99.5% monthly uptime for the API on paid plans. “Uptime” means the API returns a non-5xx response to a valid request. Scheduled maintenance windows (notified 24 hours in advance) are excluded from uptime calculations.
Free plan users receive no uptime guarantee. Enterprise customers may negotiate a formal SLA with credits or refunds for downtime — contact us for details.
If we fail to meet the uptime target in a calendar month and you notify us within 7 days, we will apply a credit of one additional month of service to your account.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
- Parsed ingredient data will be 100% accurate or suitable for your specific use case
- The AI-generated output will be free of hallucinations or errors
You are responsible for validating parsed output before using it in production, especially in contexts involving food safety, allergen information, or nutritional data.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RecipeParse's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service is capped at a maximum of AUD $100, or the fees you paid to RecipeParse in the 3 months preceding the claim, whichever is lower.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of revenue, loss of data, or loss of profits, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or exclusion of certain damages — in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time from your dashboard or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to the Service until then.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you:
- Breach these Terms and do not remedy the breach within 7 days of notice
- Fail to pay fees when due
- Use the Service in a way that poses a security risk to us or other customers
Upon termination, your API keys are revoked and your data is deleted according to the schedule in our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, unless you are a consumer entitled to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction under applicable consumer protection law.
13. Contact
